Consciousness is the motor of evolution

Consciousness is the motor of evolution. The whole evolutionary process, according to Teilhard, is an evolution of consciousness. 24 As consciousness evolves, so does the universe. When the level of our awareness changes, we start attracting a new reality. Because consciousness brings with it a new horizon of meaning, it creates differences. When Jesus of Nazareth appeared in public announcing a new consciousness of God's presence, he became at odds with his fellow Jews; when he forgave sins in the temple or picked corn on the Sabbath, he challenged the Jewish consciousness of God and the Torah. Because consciousness emerges out of the deepest personal center of being, it cannot be suppressed or annihilated; it must show itself by its very evolutionary nature.
